Life Groups
Why should I be part of a life group?
At Moore Park Baptist Church we believe that being part of a life group is an important part of the discipleship process. Whilst we understand that not everyone can get to a life group, we do encourage as many as possible to be involved.
What is a life group?
A life group is a smaller group of people (4-20) that encourages the development of personal relationships for the purpose of discipling one another. Each life group can operate differently, but a typical life group would include time for relationship building, prayer and studying God’s word.
The main goal of a life group is to disciple believers by allowing them to connect with one another on a more intimate level and encouraging them to walk together on their faith journey to become more like Christ. Life groups can also be better opportunities for new believers or people who are interested in learning more about Jesus as they tend to be less intimidating than a Sunday service.
The purpose of a life group is to effectively ‘do life’ together. They create small communities, and great friendships, where they are able to support one another, share and pray together as well as offer practical examples of love and service. Whilst each life group will have their own leader, the Pastor and Eldership will support these leaders in an ongoing capacity.
When do they meet?
Life groups meet throughout the week and in different venues so we are sure that there will be one that suits your schedule. Some groups meet weekly and some fortnightly so once again hopefully there is something to meet everyone’s needs and time commitments.
What do life groups study?
Each Life Group may have a structured study that revolves around God’s Word. Examples of a study are things such as:
- A chapter-by-chapter study of one book of the Bible
- Sermons or sermon series by respected Pastors
- A Christian book
- DVD series
Twice a year we have a whole church focus, when the sermons, life groups and devotional material is made available. These series last 6-8 weeks and are excellent opportunities to give a life group a try if you are nervous or unsure whether life groups are for you.
How do I join a life group?
Are you interested in joining one of our Life Groups? Speak to Pastor Mark or ask one of the life group leaders to come along and give their group a try. You will always receive a warm welcome.
2 CORINTHIANS 5:7
We walk by faith, not by sight.
We’d love for you to come and join us as we grow together as disciples of Christ and seek to serve our wider community.
